Fck'n Nuts (Fantastic Fest)

Dir. Sam Fox

Sandy must break up with her boyfriend in order to keep him from meeting her strange parents.

Fck'n Nuts is exactly what a short film should be, and believe me when I say that the title is accurate in every sense of the words. Short, to the point, and balls-to-the-wall insane, director Sam Fox's new short is outstanding, a genre fan's delight. Featuring a ridiculous premise and disgustingly over-the-top effects, Fck'n Nuts is the type of short film that you have to see to believe. Great set design, a gorgeously absurd color palette, and some tongue-in-cheek horror are exactly what this short needed to hit home in just an eight minute runtime.

Sandy (Maddie Nichols) has just broken up with her boyfriend Dan (Vincent Stalba) and she is crying into her pillow. He won't take no for an answer, though, and he shows up on her doorstep to beg her to take him back. Sandy is afraid to introduce him to her parents, however, who have scared off every last one of her suitors. Not to be deterred, Dan convinces her to let him inside to meet them, and suffice to say things don't go well for poor old Dan after that.

With a title that is both a play on words and concisely accurate, Fck'n Nuts is the type of gory exploitation horror that you're used to seeing from companies like Troma or Full Moon. And I'm talking the 80's versions of those companies, that completely rebuked good taste as long as they could get a laugh or a retch from their audiences. It certainly provides both of those, and it's a fun, ridiculous, and incredibly effective film in such a short runtime. If you're a fan of disgusting horror, this is the one for you.

Who this film is for: Short horror fans, Gross effects lovers, Georgians

Bottom line: Fck'n Nuts is just that, a wild ride from start to finish. It's gross, absurd, and hilarious, and it hits the spot for horror fans with a taste for the eclectic. If you enjoy short films and some Troma-level gross-out humor, this is definitely one you'll want to check out.
